Bar stools stand higher than a classic chair, typically at a height of 80cm while other chairs are around 45cm high. Bar stools are used to sit at higher surfaces; note that even with such a high chair, there should be a distance of about 30cm between the seat and the edge of the table for sufficient freedom of movement. So that the legs can relax comfortably, bar stools usually have a horizontal bar of about 40cm below the seat where feet can rest. The bar stool is available with or without backs and armrests, in a slimline or robust design.
Bar stools are not just for bars: they can also be used with a high table or counter in the kitchen, dining room, or living room. With their narrow and tall appearance, they add dimension to a room as well as offer an alternative seating choice.
The two most popular materials for barstools are wood and stainless steel. For example, if you like a vintage industrial style, opt for a bar stool with metal legs and light or dark wood. For a more eclectic design, choose a bar stool in a bold colour—adding TWYN chair legs in the same colour, or another contrasting colour, will make for a great statement piece.
